Picture Polish Altered State

Hi Guys,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Mine wasn't that interesting really, I did nothing on Saturday, yesterday was better though because I had a quick trip to the city... I had my first ever venture into Sally's for acetone, and then I took a trip to Hobbycraft for some yarn, but more on that later in the week!

Today's post focuses on another of the Picture Polish limited editions! This time it's Altered State, a blue - purple - red multichrome with chunky holographic glass flecks. I have to say when I first got these I was the most excited for this one, but was a bit disappointed when I first put it on. That changed once I started moving my fingers and saw the different colours. I will say though that I think this is the most subtle of the collection.

For these swatches I used one coat over Cult Nails Nevermore with a coat of HK Girl top coat on top of it all.

Picture Polish Aurora

Hi Everyone,

I write to you all from my ice chamber! We ran out of oil and have been without heating and hot water since Wednesday! My fan heater is working on overdrive and we have an oil delivery due today so I should be toasty and warm this evening!

Today I have my first of the Picture Polish Limited Editions to show you! I bought this when it first came out and finally swatched it this week!

Aurora is a green - teal - blue - purple multichrome glitter polish. I hadn't originally planned on buying this, but the feeling took hold of me and I couldn't help myself and I'm so glad I did! I love how you don't have to move your fingers to see the colour shift, in my opinion this looks even better on than it does in the bottle, but I'll let you guys be the judge of that...

The photos below show one coat of Aurora over one coat of black (Cult Nails Nevermore) with a HK Girl Top Coat on top. On the brush this looks like dirty dishwater, so I was shocked to see such depth of colour, shimmer and glitter in just one coat.

This post is a little bit pic-heavy so click "Read More" to see the other pictures!

What's In My Stash #1

Hi Everyone,

Today I thought I would introduce a new feature called What's In My Stash!

I generally store my nail polish in my Helmer, or at least I intend to... I have the majority of my nail polishes in there, but I more than often have about 50 others laying around in other places like my living room, kitchen, on my dressing table. So the ones that are laying around are the ones I usually end up wearing because they catch my eye easier.

Sometimes, however, I have a particular polish I want to wear, so I have to go into my Helmer. Every time I go in there I'm shocked at how many beauties I have in there, some that I haven't even worn!

So my first What's In My Stash polish is a real winner. It is Ozotic 532 and I bought this around July last year from Llarowe after it was announced that Ozotic was discontinuing a load of their range, including all of the Mish Mash polishes. I bought this one and 531... When they arrived they got lost in my house somewhere for ages, and then I found them after we moved and put them in my Helmer. Then one night about a week and a half ago I started panicking I'd lost them and had to go and find them immediately!

Ozotic 532 is a teal/blue/purple multichrome with a lot of holoness thrown it. It's beautiful, which is why I had to have it!

Onto the pictures. I used my lightbox for one of these photos and one lamp for the others. I would have loved to get sunlight pictures of this but the weather was terrible when I did these and it was about 1am!

I layered two coats of Ozotic 532 over Models Own Beth's Blue. It looks amazing over black but I wanted to try something different!

Look at that! Like liquid magic!
Lamp Light - Bright artificial light brings out the purple
Flash in Lightbox - The flash brings out the gorgeous teal!

I love this so much, I can't believe it was left unworn in my collection for so long!

What do you think of Ozotic 532? Do you have any of the now discontinued Ozotics?

Speciallita HITS Phenomena Air Glow

Hi Everyone!

I'm so sorry I didn't get the chance to do a post last night! We decided to come up to my home town at really short notice yesterday, then spent the day running errands and packing. It's a three and a half hour drive and didn't get up to the house until almost midnight! So I didn't have any time to do it... I'm going to make up for it with tonight's post though!

I have another HITS Phenomena to show you, it is called Air Glow and it's a multichrome glitter that shifts from pink to orange to yellow. This didn't look great in the bottle but I thought I'd try it, and I was actually really surprised when I saw it on the nail. The colour shift is gorgeous!

The photos below show two thick coats of Air Glow over Models Own Black Magic. The application on this was really good, it covered a lot better than Afterglow, which you can see here

Yellow
This polish is so pretty! I've still got two polishes to swatch from this collection but I'm really impressed so far, which I knew I would be! HITS always make amazing polishes. Amazing multichromes and holos which are far better than anything else I've seen from any other brand!

I bought this here directly from Speciallita for R$5.50 but you can also get it from Llarowe for $10. Personally I don't want to pay $10 for something that I know only really costs the equivalent of about $2.00........! Now, please don't get me wrong, I love Llarowe, they are brilliant, but I like to keep my money if I can to spend on more polish!

Speciallita HITS Mari Moon Dreamer

Hi guys,

Sorry it's such a late post tonight, I was watching a film. We rented Tower Heist which was really good, very funny, so it's definitely worth a watch if you haven't already seen it!

Tonight's post is one of my new HITS polishes that I got in the post a few days ago. It's so gorgeous. I couldn't wait to try this polish so my trip to the hairdresser yesterday seemed like the perfect opportunity! Dreamer is a multichrome polish that shifts from blue to purple to copper and to gold. It's really stunning. In bright light it looks totally blue but in duller lighting the colour shift is amazing! If you saw my post the other day on HITS Afterglow then this is the multichrome polish version of that glitter.

Here are some photos. I used two coats of Dreamer over my Black Gold by Giles polish. I didn't actually need two coats, but one of my nails had a patch on so I had to do another coat on all of them! The formula was great on this. I know a lot of people have problems with wonky brushes with HITS but I've never had any problems...

This is such a pretty polish, but my only complaint is the tipwear. Even wrapping my tips I got tipwear within a couple of hours, which is when I took the photos!

You can buy this polish directly from HITS like I did here for R$8.50 or you can buy it from Llarowe.

Speciallita HITS Afterglow

Hey everyone!

I've only just finished my dinner, I had such a nice home made cheese and spinach lasagne. Since we had our baby, my boyfriend and I have hardly cooked, so today it was nice to cook a proper meal even though we were exhausted!

Today I have the HITS Phenomena polish to show you as promised. I picked Afterglow as my first to post because it's the one I was most excited about, and it certainly didn't disappoint!

Afterglow is a multichrome glitter top coat that shifts from blue to purple to red. I layered this over black and I really don't think you could get this to full opacity on its own.

The photos below all show three coats of Afterglow over Black Polish by Gold by Giles. I took all the photos in natural daylight. No sun today unfortunately, what a surprise!

Natural light
Colour shift
Macro - beautiful glitter

I absolutely adore this polish. This collection has been the one I've been most excited about. I love HITS and this is unlike anything else I've seen. It's different from other multichromes because the colour shift is in the glitter not the polish. Sometimes it even has a 3D effect which is really pretty to look at!

I bought this polish (and the other 9 I bought with it) directly from Speciallita here but they do sell them at Llarowe too.

Goodbye NL, hello UK!

Hi guys,

Today is the day I leave the Netherlands! I can't believe I've been ill the whole time I've been here! Yesterday was a real turning point though so my Dad took me into town to do some shopping in Groningen. I LOVE Groningen, my Dad has been living here for 8/9 years now and I come over every year. The people are so friendly and I like the fact that people speak English... I'm not the kind of ignoramus that expects it when I go abroad, but it's always a major bonus for me.

I promised you all some continental beauties and hopefully this doesn't disappoint! I had a couple of polishes in mind when I came over here that I saw online, in particular a polish that looked like a potential dupe for Chanel Peridot, but none of them were in stock! So I just picked a couple of things up in Douglas, a local drugstore.

L-R Absolute Douglas - be balanced, WIC by Herome - Bogota,   KOH - Metallic Green and Glamorous Purple

Speciallita Hits Phenomena

Check out these multichromes!

HITS make some amazing polishes, their No Olimpo collection is great, I'll be showing one of their polishes over the next couple of days and I have two more to come in the mail soon.

I'll for sure be snapping this whole collection up as soon as I can!

Max Factor - Fantasy Fire

Hi guys,

Here it is, the one and only Fantasy Fire. This polish has caused such a stir that it's almost impossible to get hold of! Luckily I live in a part of the country where there aren't too many nail polish fanatics, so I managed to pick it up and I'm so glad I did. It's fair to say I'm a little bit in love with it! I even got complimented on it last night at the gym which was lovely.

Here it is in all its glory!
Fantasy Fire is supposedly a near dupe for the legendary and long discontinued Clarins 230 which, sadly, I do not own. It has a multichrome shimmer that shifts from red to gold to green depending on the angle. It can be worn on its own, where you'll need about 4 coats (depending on your application) to get full opacity. Alternatively you can layer the polish over another shade, which is how I wore it. The base colour in Fantasy Fire is gorgeous, but I just can't stand having a visible nail line!

First I layered Fantasy Fire over black so the shimmer could take centre stage. Then I layered it over the most similar shade I had in my stash, which was Rimmel Lycra Pro Aqua Cool. This is a cornflower blue polish that is lighter than the base colour in Fantasy Fire. Layering the polish like this means that the royal blue jelly base isn't hidden!

Click "Read More" to see my gorgeous swatches! In all of the photos I'm wearing two coats my chosen shade with one coat of Fantasy Fire. I've topped it off (of course) with a coat of Seche Vite to give it that classic glass-like appearance.
