NOTD Models Own Aciied and Jack Frost

Hi guys,

I had planned on posting this last night, but my boyfriend and I went to help his auntie and uncle set up their new laptop, and then they took us out for dinner to say thanks. By the time we got back it was late and we had to get our son into bed. Then we decided to paint the walls by the staircase and the landing ceiling... That lasted until half past one in the morning. Safe to say I wasn't going to be writing a post then!

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit more laid back today, the sun is out, I bought some more fish for the tank, we organised the fitting of the carpet to go up the stairs, so we need to do the second coat of paint before then, but all in all, I'm doing well!

So this afternoon I have one of my favourite NOTDs to show you. I've worn this quite a few times, the combo makes me feel happy! At first I wanted something crazy and so I threw these two polishes together and I think it really works! If I was going to make a nail polish myself I'd love to recreate this combination in one bottle!

The layering combo I'm talking about is Models Own Aciiied and Jack Frost. One is a bright chartreuse creme and one is a delicate iridescent purple/blue duochrome glitter with a turquoise flash. It shouldn't work, but it does somehow...

The photos below show two coats of Aciiied with one thin coat of Jack Frost. Ages ago I was preparing swatches of the Wonderland collection but stupidly I still haven't finished. Jack Frost could be in my Top 5 Models Own polishes of all time!

I took these photos in my lightbox, so some of the glossiness has been taken away, these are not matte polishes.

Beautiful!

Love the blue against the chartreuse!

Both polishes retail for £5 here, however I bought Aciiied as part of the 50% off sale a while ago. I got Jack Frost in a set when I bought the whole collection so I saved a bit of money there too.

So... What's the verdict? What do you think of this combination of colours? Pretty, ugly, or ugly-pretty?

China Glaze 3D Prismatic - Optical Illusion

Hi guys,

I hope you're having a good week so far. I'm so depressed today... This is the view that I have to look at all day:

The weather has been so bad! It's July and we're on a severe weather warning!!! I feel like I'm not going to get a summer. I need some sun, I'm pale and miserable...

So here's some glitter! I bought this a little while ago after I saw some swatches online. Optical Illusion is from the 3D Prismatic Collection and it has a blue/purple duochrome as well as different sized glitters.

This went on really smoothly and I only needed two (thick coats) for the pictures below.

I love this! I've heard it looks great over black as well so that's something I'll definitely be trying out too.

I know this is really easy to get hold of in the USA, but if you're in the UK you can find it at Nail Polish Direct here for £5.45. I've mentioned this site before and I highly recommend it! I'm planning my next purchase as we speak!

A England Ascalon

Afternoon Everybody!

Here's an uncharacteristically early in the day post from me! My boyfriend is at work, my son is asleep, so I thought I might as well do something productive instead of just watching TV! Then I might treat myself to some chips and a bit of shopping later on!

Today I have A England Ascalon to show you. I bought this online when I was at my Dad's because they had a 30% off deal in honour of Tristam's (Adina's cat's) birthday. I bought Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes), which you can see here and Ascalon.

Ascalon is a grey polish with a scattered holographic effect and a duochrome which goes from lavender to a VERY subtle green, which looks grey most of the time.

The application of this was really good, it was almost a one coater but I ended up using two coats. I used Cult Nails Wicked Fast as a topcoat which made the drying time really fast.

These swatches were taken this morning (Monday) and I actually put this on, on Saturday morning. It is still immaculate after so many days, but I think I'm going to have to change it later on because I get bored so easily!

Here are some photos, as I mentioned before, this is two coats with topcoat.

My camera didn't like this polish at all. The purple in the polish is so obvious in real life but it was almost impossible to get it to show up on the camera! I managed to get it to show on one of the flash pictures as you can see, but it's even more obvious in real life!

You can buy this from Llarowe but I bought it direct from A England here. It retails for £9 and they offer free internation delivery, which is always a bonus!

I love A England and their Jubilicious Collection has a couple of polishes I want so I'm VERY TEMPTED!

Dollish Polish Aurora Borealis

Evening everyone,

I wish I could have posted earlier today, I hate posting this late but I've been so busy today!

Today I have the first instalment of my Dollish Polish order. I did have something else lined up for today but after getting my nail mail yesterday I couldn't resist! This polish is called Aurora Borealis after the Northern Lights, and is a glass fleck topcoat with a blue to purple duochrome.

I had to layer this over black, as I do with all of my topcoats, but I can't wait to try this out over other colours. I'm so glad this polish is here because I was starting to get a bit sick of the red/gold/green colour shift that we're seeing everywhere, this colour shift is such a welcome change!

I used two coats of the black polish by Gold by Giles I reviewed here and then one coat of Aurora Borealis. The formula was absolutely amazing! I finished it all off with a coat of Seche Vite and it looked so beautiful! I even got complemented on my nails at the post office! The lady made me write down the name and where I got it from so she could try and get it for herself!

Find the rest of the photos after the jump, I got slightly snap happy with this one! Who can blame me?!

China Glaze for Audrey and Models Own Indian Ocean

Hey everyone!

Today I have one of the new Beetlejuice SS12 polishes to show you. This shade is called Indian Ocean and it is a sheer blue duochrome that shifts from gold to pink. I only bought this colour from the new collection because I want to wait and see how strong the duochrome is on the others before I buy them. I bought four from the last Beetlejuice and was really disappointed with two of them so I wasn't about to make the same mistake again!

I will wear this polish on its own at some point, but for these pictures I chose to layer it over For Audrey by China Glaze, which I just received yesterday!

Breakfast at Tiffany's is my favourite film, so I knew I had to have this near-true Tiffany blue! Application was okay on this, two coats gave me adequate coverage, but the drying time was CRAZY long!

I then added two coats of Indian Ocean and was in love! The blue base of it took away from the minty green-ness of For Audrey and gave it such a beautiful shimmer! I even got complimented on this today!

This polish is so pretty, I just wish it looked better with my skin tone. That doesn't matter to me though, I'll still be wearing this again! You can find it at Boots or here for £5.

Goodbye NL, hello UK!

Hi guys,

Today is the day I leave the Netherlands! I can't believe I've been ill the whole time I've been here! Yesterday was a real turning point though so my Dad took me into town to do some shopping in Groningen. I LOVE Groningen, my Dad has been living here for 8/9 years now and I come over every year. The people are so friendly and I like the fact that people speak English... I'm not the kind of ignoramus that expects it when I go abroad, but it's always a major bonus for me.

I promised you all some continental beauties and hopefully this doesn't disappoint! I had a couple of polishes in mind when I came over here that I saw online, in particular a polish that looked like a potential dupe for Chanel Peridot, but none of them were in stock! So I just picked a couple of things up in Douglas, a local drugstore.

Famous Purple Dazzle

Greetings from the Netherlands!

Today I have the first polish from my most recent haul. I had never seen or heard of Famous by Sue Moxley when I saw it in Superdrug so I had to buy a couple of things just to see if I liked it, and I do! I understand the brand has been around for a few years in selected stores but I guess those stores where never anywhere near me!

This is called Purple Dazzle and it's a dark purple glass fleck polish with a slight duochrome. I say slight because I didn't notice it until I started taking photos! The colour shift goes from purple to gold and it's really pretty in a subtle way.

I had so many problems trying to get a colour accurate photo of this! It kept photographing as blue, even though it's definitely 100% purple. In the end I fiddled about with my white balance, so if my skin looks a bit off colour then it means the colour of the polish is right!

In the photos below I'm wearing two coats of Purple Dazzle with a coat of Seche Vite. Click "Read More" to see the rest of my photos.

Here it is in the sunlight

GOSH 550 Purple Heart

Hey, hope you've all had a good day!

Today I have a GOSH polish to show you. I bought this a couple of weeks ago but I know it's been around for a couple of years now. It is my first GOSH polish. Believe it or not, I've always walked by the GOSH counter without taking any notice. This is how I managed to miss out on GOSH Holographic. However, last time I was in Superdrug I had a look on the GOSH stand and was surprised when this bottle shouted out "buy me!"
