Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum

Hi Everybody,

I can't believe it's Thursday already! Tomorrow I'm driving up to Manchester to stay with my brother until Sunday which is exciting. I've never been there before, and on Sunday I'm meeting one of my uni housemates who lives near there as well, so all in all it should be a good weekend!

Tonight's post is a special indie brand that I love, Dollish Polish!

Dollish Polish will always have a special place in my heart. I bought my first ever indies from there and I keep going back! I hadn't bought anything from Dolly in a while, purely because I was getting sick of Royal Mail ripping me off for handling fees when I paid my import tax, so I was thrilled to find out that Rainbow Connection were bringing them in!

Expecto Patronum is something I've had my eye on for a long time but it was one of the quickest things to sell out at every restock on the Dollish Polish site so I never got it... Until now!

It is a white sheer base with aqua blue small and larger hex glitters. It's so delicate on and just great! One thing it has in it as well that I didn't know about until I applied it is iridescent green flakes and a little bit of shimmer, but that doesn't translate in the photos unfortunately.

The photo below shows two coats with topcoat. Coverage is fantastic on this for something that seems so sheer on the first coat. You could layer this over white but I like it better on its own, the sheerness makes it look all squishy and cloud-like...  

Sorry there is only one photo, my camera seemed to struggle to focus on the glitter through the base, but one photo is all it needs!

Isn't this gorgeous! The crelly base is perfect and the glitter is so pretty. I didn't want to take this off after I swatched it and this is the next thing I'll be wearing...

Dollish Polish Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween 2012 Collection

I'm back! I've been at my Mum's for the last week and haven't stopped so I haven't been able to post anything! My boyfriend just got home last night after about 7 weeks away, so I have some help with our son and here is the result...

Before I go on, yes you did read the title right, this is the 2012 Halloween collection from Dollish Polish. I bought these polishes this time last year and didn't post them for some reason. Just as I was digging them out in time to think of what to wear for Halloween this year, I saw an update from Dolly saying she was restocking these as a limited edition item. I thought I would post swatches in case anyone wanted to see them before the restock!

Here they are... Please note that I forgot to bring my bottle of Vampire's Coven, but that is beautiful and well worth buying!

Something's Up With Jack is a clear base with purple large and small hexes, as well as white large hexes, small squares and bar glitter, and black hexes, squares and bars. The formula was pretty good on this, the photo below shows two coats over Models Own Utopia as well as a macro bottle shot.

We're Simply Meant to be has yellow, burgundy and blue hexes, with large black squares and holographic microglitter. I love the combination of colours in this, it's so unique and I don't have anything else like it. This is two coats over NYC Colors Raindrops.

What's this? What's this? contains orange, purple and green larger hexes, small black hexes, purple squares, white large hexes and bar glitter, as well as holographic microglitter. This screams Halloween and is the most Halloween-y of the polishes I bought from this collection. This photo shows two coats of Models Own Concrete Mixer as well as a macro shot.

Spectral Pup... Where do I begin? This was really the standout of the collection. I had to try to add this to my cart about 1000 times before finally it was released from someone's cart! This and Vampire's Coven were the two that sold out the quickest in this collection and I'm so glad I got them both, but particularly this. Spectral Pup contains large white hex and square glitter, as well as smaller versions of both, and has orange medium and small hexes. It also contains iridescent glitter and has a clear base, even though it looks quite cloudy. The reason for this is that it GLOWS IN THE DARK! It's so amazing, and I love it. I know lots of indie brands have released glow in the dark polishes but this is the first and only one I've ever owned.

The swatches below show one coat (amazing glitter pay of from a slightly thicker than usual base) over Sinful Colors Rich In Heart, which is a near black polish with dark red shimmer - similar to OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest. My favourite way to wear this is over a pale sheer pink, specifically Cult Nails Enticing, to match the look in the bottle. But I was going for an autumnal combo.

Dollish Polish Girls Rule, Boys Drule!

Hi Everybody,

I hope you're all okay! My life has been a nightmare the last 2 days, we've just been packing, packing, packing! My boyfriend got home on Monday and we started packing the house up on Tuesday. It was his birthday yesterday but poor him, he had to spend the whole day getting ready for the move! We're doing a big trip up to the house with a 7.5 ton lorry on Sunday. I'm excited to see the house again, I haven't seen it in a couple of months so I've nearly forgotten what it's like. Not to mention it'll be nice to be in a house that isn't full of boxes, until the new house has all the boxes in it at least!

I'm so excited to have an indie polish to show you! It feels like ages since I bought any. In fact it hasn't, but I just didnt get around to swatching the Dollish Polish Halloween Collection before Halloween... And a month and a half later it might be cruel to show of some things that are impossible to get hold of, so I think I'll save them for some NOTD posts later on, maybe in January when I'm missing Christmas and missing some sparkle!

The same thing sort of applies with the polish I have to show you... Girls Rule, Boys Drule consists of matte pink and purple hex glitter suspended in a clear base. It was super limited edition, with only 300 bottles made. In order to buy it you had to submit your interest in an online form and then Dolly picked out 300 names and sent Paypal invoices. You had to pay within 24 hours or someone else would get picked out. It probably took me 24 seconds to pay my invoice...

The photos below show two coats of Girls Rule, Boys Drule over Essie Bikini So Teeny. I used two coats of NYC Colors Turbo Dry Top Coat on top of this and it was perfectly smooth.

Before I post the swatches, can I just give a little bit of a shout out to the new Dollish bottles, I love them!

I think this is so beautiful, I want to layer it over more colours. I'll definitely post photos when I do! It's pretty similar-ish (not a dupe) to Ninja Polish Girly Floam so you could maybe get that if you're gutted you can't get this one. But Ninja Polish stuff is hard to get hold of, I'm dying for Floam so it's best to subscribe to stock emails.

Before I go, I just want to say a thank you to Dolly for bringing out such gorgeous nail polishes. I've been a loyal customer for a while since the old Esty days and I'm still pleasantly surprised by her collections! She has a lot of vision and will probably remain my favourite indie creator for a while. I love the indie nail polish revolution and I've loved being part of it as a customer. I really hope I can be a part of it as a creator one day!

Barry M Aqua Glitter

I hope you're all having a good week so far. The weather has been kind to us today and we had lots of sun, we even had a little bit of a BBQ which was lovely! 

Anyway, it's going to be a quick post from me tonight. Well, I say that and then ramble on forever so I'll try not to because I'm about to watch a film...

Tonight's polish is Barry M Aqua Glitter. I bought this when I went shopping with my cousin probably 4 weeks or so ago and it's been sat in my box waiting to be used. I finally swatched it two weeks ago and here are the results.

Aqua Glitter is a gorgeous polish that is made up of small and large particles of turquoise glitter in a clear base. My cousin used this before me and she text me saying her nails looked amazing with this over black, so of course, I tried that first! 

These photos show one coat of Aqua Glitter over Cult Nails Nevermore. The formula for the glitter was amazing, it went on smoothly with great glitter distribution. I used one coat of Seche Vite which smoothed this out perfectly.

As soon as I saw this glitter it reminded me of a toned down version of Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much, so I thought I'd try Aqua Glitter over Barry M Indigo (pretty much my favourite layering undies ever) to see if it looked similar. Obviously SYVM has purple glitter as well as turquoise so I was hoping using Indigo underneath would make it look similar.

As you can probably see, these aren't identical, SYVM has the purple glitter, and the different sized glitters give it a more 3 dimensional look. But if you've ever tried buying Dollish Polish before, you'll know it's a bit of a pain. They stock it on Llarowe now but I prefer buying direct... This means sometimes being awake at strange times, refreshing my browser page for 40 mins before the scheduled opening time just in case it opens early, being cart-jacked, and having to check out multiple times and pay multiple shipping costs just to make sure nobody steals my stuff and to try and cart-jack someone else! It's a dirty business but worth it for the pretties - to me anyway!

So if you hate the hassle of indies, I'd suggest the second combo as an "almost there" Spank You Very Much. Over black, Aqua Glitter is just beautiful! It's a must have... I bought mine from Superdrug for £2.99 but it's available from Boots, the Barry M Website and ASOS too.

Dollish Polish - Heart of Glass

Hi guys,

Wow, I'm so achy today! I did an exercise class this morning that I could take my son to, in his pram. It was such hard work, I don't think I've ever done so many squats in my life! But no pain, no gain!

Anyway, I promised you something really pretty for today so here it is! I did have another idea for today but the weather wasn't nice enough to take photos so I chose this instead.

Heart of Glass is a clear based nail polish with lots of spectraflair, as well as some holographic shards and bar glitter. I've been after this for AGES and I actually had 2 in my basket when I bought this, but I removed it to give someone else the chance to enjoy it!

The formula on this was amazing, as I've come to expect from all Dollish Polishes. The photos below show one coat of Heart of Glass layered over one coat of Cult Nails Nevermore.

Bottle shot - I had some settling issues but jut left the bottle upside down for a  bit and it was fine!

Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much

Hi Everyone!

I'm in a bad mood today! I woke up to an email from my boyfriend with a link to a house that would be PERFECT for us, big, huge garden with a lake, really nice area, nice style, and it had two floors out of the three that needed totally renovating, which is perfect. We want a barn conversion but it's really intimidating to do something so big. This was a different style of barn, and the ground floor was done with a kitchen, two bedrooms and a dining room so it would have been liveable straight away... Anyway, I called up and the estate agent told me it was already under offer! So she took my number in case the sale falls through. Fingers crossed! I know that's really mean, but all's fair in love and war... And dream houses!

To top it off it's been raining all day. I had to go out in it as well, so I had no choice but to get drenched! 

On the plus side, my Maid of Honour dress for my friend's wedding in August arrived and I love it!

Today I have a Dollish Polish to show you. I bought this and two others in the sale before last. I was so happy, constantly refreshing and trying to add to cart. This was the sale where the square went black instead of adding to cart, so I couldn't believe it when one bottle was finally freed up! 

Spank You Very Much has a clear base with purple and turquoise small and large hex glitter. This is AMAZING. The formula was a bit thick, but perfect for this glitter! 

For the photos below I layered one coat over Barry M Indigo. Yes, ONE COAT! I think a few coats would get this opaque but Dollish is becoming harder and harder to get hold of so I'm rationing myself!

I was so pleased with this mani, and looking at it now, I'm tempted to put it back on for tomorrow! Every time I wear something from Dollish Polish I decide it's my favourite! Dolly really does create some amazing stuff! I bought this for $8.75, check Dolly's facebook page or website for shop updates, I'm not sure when she's stocking what!

Dollish Polish Putting on the Ritzzz!

Hi everyone,

I've had such a good day today, I took my son to a baby sensory room at one of the local children's centres. He loved it, they had all different lights, music textures and mirrors. I've never seen him so excited!

I was so sad to take off my NOTD mani from yesterday, but the good news is that it came off really easy considering there was glitter involved! No foil needed!

Today I have my spa mani to show you that I wore the other day. I got my Dollish Polish polishes a few days ago from my Mum's house (I was away and missed my delivery so I got her and my brother to collect it!) and I couldn't wait to start wearing them! This colour is one I've been waiting for ever since I first saw it and I love it even more in person!

Putting on the Ritzzz! is a clear base with small and larger black and white hex glitter. It's so pretty! This one got the boyfriend seal of approval, he said he thought it looked "nice like paint splatted all over it" and I think that's a good thing!

I decided to layer this over bright pink, so the photos below show one coat of Putting on the Ritzzz! over Essie Tour De Finance. I have this on my toes right now over China Glaze Sea Spray and it looks AMAZING!

I love this combination, it's so summery and the black and white looks great against the pink. This could possibly be my favourite Dollish Polish ever!

Dollish Polish Aurora Borealis

Evening everyone,

I wish I could have posted earlier today, I hate posting this late but I've been so busy today! 

Today I have the first instalment of my Dollish Polish order. I did have something else lined up for today but after getting my nail mail yesterday I couldn't resist! This polish is called Aurora Borealis after the Northern Lights, and is a glass fleck topcoat with a blue to purple duochrome.

I had to layer this over black, as I do with all of my topcoats, but I can't wait to try this out over other colours. I'm so glad this polish is here because I was starting to get a bit sick of the red/gold/green colour shift that we're seeing everywhere, this colour shift is such a welcome change!

I used two coats of the black polish by Gold by Giles I reviewed here and then one coat of Aurora Borealis. The formula was absolutely amazing! I finished it all off with a coat of Seche Vite and it looked so beautiful! I even got complemented on my nails at the post office! The lady made me write down the name and where I got it from so she could try and get it for herself!

Dollish Polish Nail Mail

Hey,

Look what got delivered to my house today! Dollish Polish nail mail!!!!

I chose Aurora Borealis, Aurora Australis and a mini of Jean Claude. I'm so annoyed with myself that I didn't buy more! As soon as the Etsy shop reopens I'm going to go crazy!

I really need to figure out what order I'm going to swatch and post all of these in, I have so many new polishes, and I've got so many more still to come!
