W7 Lava Flow

Hi Everyone,

It's just a quick post from me tonight, I'm so tired! We went for a family swim today which was lovely, but I've been exhausted ever since!

Tonight I have one of the new W7 glitters to show you. I first caught wind of these a couple of weeks ago, when Sammy posted about Mosaic from the same range here. I went straight onto Nail Polish Direct and bought all three glitters.

Lava Flow consists of black and red small matte hex glitter in a white base. The application on this was so good for a glitter. The distribution couldn't have been better and I only used two coats for the level of opacity you can see in the photos below.

Natural light
Sunlight
I love this, I think it looks really pretty and it'll look really nice in the winter when I want something that looks like a crazy snowstorm!

If you like the look like this, you can get it from Nail Polish Direct here with free delivery!

Models Own Mirrorball Collection

Hi everyone!

Did you all have a lovely weekend? We went for a family picnic in the New Forest yesterday and that was really nice, although navigating bumpy terrain with the odd bit of soggy ground from the rain with a pram wasn't easy!

I have an exciting (for me, anyway) post tonight. I saw news of this on Twitter a couple of days ago and fell in love! Models Own are releasing a new collection!

My love affair with Models Own goes back as far as I can remember polish-wise... They have amazing colours, their customer service is great for such a large company and in my opinion, no UK brand hits every nail trend on the head in a good price bracket like them. They brought us duochromes and multichromes when nobody else did, they brought us chunky glitters when nobody else did, so in other words, I love them!

This new collection is called the Mirrorball Collection and it's a gorgeous set of 5 glitterbombs! Immediately I thought of the Nails Inc Nail Jewellery when I saw these, but those just have one colour in each bottle. The Models Own polishes have more colours in each bottle.

I need all five of these, take a deep breath and close your eyes.........

And OPEN!

Photo taken from the Models Own Facebook page

Aren't they amazing?!?!?!?!?! I literally swooned when I saw these, I think my boyfriend thought I was a bit weird!

This is how Models Own describe their newest collection:

NEW! The MIRRORBALL Collection, a completely unique glide-on glitter that will revitalise your entire polish collection! Wear alone or over your favourite polish to give a frosting finish, taking nails from boring to BLING! Each polish contains five different chunky colours of hand-cut glitter that are guaranteed to get the party started:

Disco Inferno, a glittery gold disco bomb
Hot Stuff, an intoxicating mix of pink and gold sparkles
Freak Out, a crystal shimmer mix of bold blue and purple
Dancing Queen, fabulous flecks of emerald, blue and gold
Boogie Nights, a multicoloured mix of intriguing purple, pink and blue!

The Mirrorball Collection launches (with LIMITED EDITION metallic coloured caps) exclusively at the Models Own Bottleshop on Thursday, September 6th, on the Models Own website on Monday, September 10th and in Boots stores nationwide from Wednesday, October 3rd.

I live about two hours from London so unfortunately I won't be able to get these the day they are released, but one thing is for sure... I WILL NOT be waiting to get them at Boots... Not to mention my Boots doesn't even stock this brand (what's that all about, Boots?) so I will be up in the morning of Monday 10th September treating myself to the whole set!

These polishes will be priced in line with the rest of the Models Own nail polish range. Individual bottles will retail for £5, but you can get the whole collection for £20, so five for the price of four!

If you're wondering if Models Own ship internationally... They do! Find out more here!

Which ones are you looking forward to getting the most? I love the look of Freak Out, I can't resist a good blue. I think Hot Stuff looks really nice too, really unique. I'll be getting all five, so check back next month to see swatches and reviews!

House of Fraser Blogger Style Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Another fashion post from me today! A couple of weeks ago, the lovely people of House of Fraser invited me to enter their latest blogger challenge. I LOVE these competitions and jumped at the chance to create a look and enter to win a £200 voucher.

House of Fraser is one of those shops that has something for everybody, and every time I go in there I see plenty of things I want to buy. What I love about it is that it makes higher end products more accessible to those of us who don't live in areas where we don't have little designer boutiques!

Every time I walk in there it reminds me of my teenage days living in Spain when I'd rush to El Corte Ingles in between trains to and from school to have a look! I feel so grown up now I can go in there and buy things! The makeup range is amazing and the clothes are to die for!

I've seen a few of these posts about and a lot of people seem to be going for a very "fashion" theme, or something they can wear during the day and then out to a bar etc, so I thought I'd do a different and more personal take on this!

I'm a mum of one, and my son is at the very naughty stage at ten and a half months old, so when it comes to my outfits, I like simple pieces that I can mix and match without too much hassle, so that's what I'm showing you! This outfit is something I'd wear day to day, at home, at playgroup, to go shopping... Pretty much everything I buy is like this, so you can get a real insight into my personal style!

I hope you liked my picks! My favourite items are the boots: shearling and leather is one of my favourite winter trends, and the nail polish: I love to add a bit of glitter to a plainer outfit to add a special something. Chunky knits are always a winter staple for me, I think this Tommy Hilfiger one is amazing! Pieces that have a rock look are a winner for me so that's why I went for a skull theme with the earrings and t-shirt and paired them with the jeggings. The bag is ideal for me. I love the hobo style, and the oversize bag is perfect for me to fit in my essentials as well as all of my baby paraphernalia!

Let's not forget the watch! Rose gold is becoming so fashionable! I've loved it ever since I first saw it in the middle east in the 90s as a child, so I'm really pleased it's becoming so easy to get hold of now. I have a gorgeous watch that I got as a graduation present, but if I didn't have that, I'd LOVE one of these Marc by Marc Jacobs ones. I love the combination of the grey ceramic against the rose gold, it's an instant classic!

Thank you so much to House of Fraser for the opportunity to enter! And don't forget if you're a blogger, you can enter this competition too, find out more here.

Let me know what you think of my look!

A England Tristam

Hi Everyone,

Today I've got a gorgeous polish to show you. I bought this a while ago when A England had their deal on for the Mythicals Collection. You could, for a limited time, buy the polishes for £5 each. Honestly, the Legends Collection is my favourite of the two, but there are some real beauties in the Mythicals. I did have a few more in mind but I decided on Tristam and Lady of the Lake as my two purchases.

Tristam is the one I have to show you today!

This is a very dark blue scattered holographic polish with such an amazing shine that you really don't need topcoat. The formula for this was exactly what I have come to expect from A England, smooth and buttery. One coat would have been enough for full opacity but I used two coats for the photos below.

Natural light
Sunlight
Isn't this so pretty? It looks almost as pretty in natural light as it does in the sunlight, and the base colour is perfect for autumn/winter!

You can get this polish here where it retails for £9. Keep your eye out for sales on the A England website, this is the second time I've bought things from A England and both times it has been during sales, so check their site often!

I have some amazing posts in mind for the near future and I really want to show some new nail art, the only problem is having time to do it, so stay tuned for some really interesting stuff! Right now though, my focus is spending as much time as possible with my boyfriend while he's home, and my son of course! And also........ learning to drive. It's going well, but more on that soon!

See you tomorrow!

Barry M Magnetic Sparkle Blue aka Neptune Sea

Hi guys,

Another quick-ish post from me tonight. It's been a long day, I've been trying to sort out a venue for my son's birthday (unsuccessful) and then my boyfriend and I had a barbecue at 9pm in the nearly dark night! So here I am, very tired and achy and writing my post!

Tonight's polish is a new(ish) one from Barry M. When I heard they were releasing new colours of the magnetic polishes I was intrigued, but then I forgot about them until I saw the range in Superdrug a few days ago. They were on a deal at 2 for £8, so just under £2 off, so I bought two.

Now onto Neptune Sea... I have a confession to make, I've only just found out that this is actually called Neptune Sparkle! I forgot the name of this and couldn't be bothered to dig out my bottle so I set onto google and found out the real name. I would have been none the wiser! My bottle says Magnetic Sparkle Blue on it, and seeing as Barry M polishes never have very imaginative names I never thought to question it!

Anyway, Neptune Sea looks a bit non-descript and grey at first glance, but luckily I check all of the effects before buying any of them so I knew the magic inside this bottle. It was too sheer for me, I hate doing layers and layers of polish so I cheated and layered it over black!

The photos below show two coats over black:

Natural light

Sunlight

When you apply the magnet over the polish, the most gorgeous glass flecked blue comes out, you'd never expect it from what it looks like without the magnet. I decided to use the chevron magnet for three fingers with the star as an accent nail. Not sure what happened with my little finger, it went a bit awry!

This is 100% my favourite magnetic polish yet. I love that Barry M have brought out so many, and I have another one to show you in the very near future that is really something special!

You can find this in all the usual places, Boots, Superdrug (where I bought mine) the Barry M website... It's not in stock on ASOS or Nail Polish Direct yet though, I'm not sure what their plans are for releasing it. It retails for £4.99, but as I mentioned before, Superdrug have it on 2 for £8, so it's worth getting!

And the Winner is...!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Sorry it's such a quick post but I'm so tired and I have to be up early to take my son to an indoor play centre and try and scope it out as a possible venue for his party in October...

So down to what I actually came here to write! As you might know, I extended my giveaway and it ended this morning!

Here are the results:

Thank you all so much for entering, and congratulations to Amalia!

See you all tomorrow!

H&M Nail Polish Blue Bliss

Hi Guys,

We've reached the end of another week already. This has been a good week for me, I've been really busy and I've had two successful driving lessons. Hopefully within the next 6 weeks I'll be able to take my test after four years of on and off learning!

I have a new polish to show you, new to me anyway, I'm not sure how long it's been out but I haven't seen it before and I spend a lot of time in H&M! It's called Blue Bliss and it's a sheer blue jelly base filled with iridescent blue and purple glitters that sparkle to show green, copper, pink and lots more depending on how you look at it.

The formula is good on this, it's easy to apply and the glitter spreads out well. The base is very sheer though. Normally I'd use this for layering but I wanted to see how long it would take me to get it opaque, so I did coat after coat after coat! It looked so pretty!

The photos below show four coats of Blue Bliss with one coat of Seche Vite.

Natural light
Flash
I loved the look of this on it's own and I'll wear it like this again, but only when my nails are shorter. The VNL was killing me! I'm in the search for the perfect colour to match this for layering, but I'm eager to layer it over black to see what the iridescent glitters look like, so I'll be sure to post photos when I do.

This polish is available at H&M for £2.99.

Don't forget my giveaway is still running! It was meant to end at 4am tomorrow morning but I have extended it to run until Monday morning at 4am, midnight EST on Sunday night for any American people who have entered. I will be announcing the winner on Monday so I figured I might as well run it until then... You can enter here!

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday!!!

Candeo Colors Oceania

Hello!

I'm really tired from a day of shopping (again) today so I'll try and keep this short. I'm seriously loving winter shopping at the moment and today I bought a really nice cream cable knit jumper today that was only £15 in H&M and I managed to find a navy blue jersey playsuit in the sale there too. I can imagine wearing it with tights, ballet flats and my favourite Abercrombie and Fitch cream cable knit (yes I love knitwear... especially cream cable knit!) cardigan for a great every day outfit this winter!

So the long and short of it is, I'm ready to drop any second... With hindsight I should have napped earlier instead of painting my nails twice, doing two looks for my Island Girl Insights column and watching 4 episodes of The Only Way is Essex and 2 episodes of Geordie Shore.

What can I say? It's been a productive afternoon! Now time for some indie loveliness!

I bought Oceania from Candeo Colors a while ago when it was a new colour. I needed it as soon as I saw it and I wasn't disappointed!

Oceania has small and larger white matte hex glitter as well as large lilac and turquoise matt hex glitter. It is suspended in a clear base and it's amazing. The formula is great, the glitter went on well, I didn't have to fish for any particular colour and I only needed one coat of Seche Vite to smooth it out.

The photos below show one coat of Oceania over Beauty UK Smokey Lilac.

Natural light
Sunlight
Macro

I loved wearing this polish, but I'm not sure if I was crazy about the colour I layered it over... Next time I'll try something that doesn't hide the lilac glitter.

You can buy this polish directly from Candeo Colors here for $9 or at Llarowe for £12. Both stores are out of stock (unsurprisingly) at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled!

Barry M Aqua Glitter

Hi Guys,

I hope you're all having a good week so far. The weather has been kind to us today and we had lots of sun, we even had a little bit of a BBQ which was lovely!

Anyway, it's going to be a quick post from me tonight. Well, I say that and then ramble on forever so I'll try not to because I'm about to watch a film...

Tonight's polish is Barry M Aqua Glitter. I bought this when I went shopping with my cousin probably 4 weeks or so ago and it's been sat in my box waiting to be used. I finally swatched it two weeks ago and here are the results.

Aqua Glitter is a gorgeous polish that is made up of small and large particles of turquoise glitter in a clear base. My cousin used this before me and she text me saying her nails looked amazing with this over black, so of course, I tried that first!

These photos show one coat of Aqua Glitter over Cult Nails Nevermore. The formula for the glitter was amazing, it went on smoothly with great glitter distribution. I used one coat of Seche Vite which smoothed this out perfectly.

Natural light
Sunlight

As soon as I saw this glitter it reminded me of a toned down version of Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much, so I thought I'd try Aqua Glitter over Barry M Indigo (pretty much my favourite layering undies ever) to see if it looked similar. Obviously SYVM has purple glitter as well as turquoise so I was hoping using Indigo underneath would make it look similar.

You can see my Spank You Very Much post here but here is one layer of Aqua Glitter layered over two coats of Indigo:

Natural light
Sunlight

And for the sake of comparison (in case you can't be bothered to click over to my Dollish Polish post!) here is Spank You Very Much!

Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much - Natural Light

As you can probably see, these aren't identical, SYVM has the purple glitter, and the different sized glitters give it a more 3 dimensional look. But if you've ever tried buying Dollish Polish before, you'll know it's a bit of a pain. They stock it on Llarowe now but I prefer buying direct... This means sometimes being awake at strange times, refreshing my browser page for 40 mins before the scheduled opening time just in case it opens early, being cart-jacked, and having to check out multiple times and pay multiple shipping costs just to make sure nobody steals my stuff and to try and cart-jack someone else! It's a dirty business but worth it for the pretties - to me anyway!

So if you hate the hassle of indies, I'd suggest the second combo as an "almost there" Spank You Very Much. Over black, Aqua Glitter is just beautiful! It's a must have... I bought mine from Superdrug for £2.99 but it's available from Boots, the Barry M Website and ASOS too.

Birthday Nails!

Hi Everybody!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I did :) It was my birthday yesterday so I had an eventful day. My family came over to my house to give me my presents, I got very spoiled indeed! And then we went out to TGI Fridays for lunch. I ate more than I have in months and was very bloated and uncomfortable for the rest of the day and didn't need any dinner! In the evening I went to a local pub with my boyfriend, brother and a couple of his friends to do a pub quiz, which we won!!!!! We watched the Olympics Closing Ceremony afterwards so it was a lovely way to round off my day!

Today I was meant to be doing an activity that my brother had organised... One of my presents from him was a Segway Rally experience day, but the nearest available date is in October, so I'll be booking it for then!

Anyway, I did a special manicure for my birthday which was kind of thrown together last minute before I went out for the meal. I didn't have much time because I did a mani-pedi for my Mum!

My brother bought me China Glaze Luxe and Lush, and I decided to incorporate that. I already had it but the formula on my bottle was horrific so I was glad to get a new one!

I won't go into details about the polishes I used but it was one coat of Cult Nails Nevermore, one coat Gosh Galaxy (swatches and review coming soon), one coat Luxe and Lush, and then one coat Models Own Disco Heaven. I used two coats of Seche Vite.

Here it is:

I decided to mix it up a bit for the evening and added a matte top coat. I'm not sure how I felt about this, but it looked better in real life than in the photo! It looked like frosted glass!

I'm really excited to show you all another of my birthday polishes. It's one I've wanted for ages but my brother is just waiting for it to arrive then I can have it!

Hope you liked my birthday mani!

Don't forget, you still have five days to enter my Olympic Giveaway to win a bottle of Barry M Jewel Britannia!

CrowsToes Thing and what I've been up to!

Hi guys,

First of all, I'm so sorry that I haven't done any posts this week! I actually did some swatching last weekend to make sure I had posts for the week so all my travelling wouldn't get on top of me, but it turned out it was all too much...

I mentioned last week that my boyfriend was coming home and I had a wedding to go to. Well he got back Sunday afternoon, then Monday we did a four hour trip to where we used to live, stayed in a hotel (internet wasn't that great) and then my friend's wedding was on Wednesday. We literally didn't stop the whole time we were there, I was Maid of Honour at the wedding so I was really busy, and then we left last night. I could have got a post done then but we left late and didn't get home until 2am!

So I'm really sorry, and this shouldn't happen again in a hurry!

Anyway, onto what this post is really about... Indie beauties!

CrowsToes used to be a brand I had heard of but wasn't familiar with, so (like a lot of people I guess) I did some research prior to their launch on Llarowe. It was love at first sight! These polishes are super glitterbomb-y and gorgeous. I have my eye on a few more (Gomez I'm looking at you) but I settled on Thing and another one (if you follow me on Instagram you'll know which - I'll be posting that soon).

Thing is a mix of metallic glitter off all different shapes and sizes in a clear base. Well I say clear base, I'm not sure there even is a base in here... It begs the question: Is there such thing as too much glitter? In this case I'd say maybe, I would have loved a slightly better base to glitter ratio but I can deal.

What I love about Thing is that the glitter is metallic, I've been really into matte glitters lately (haven't we all?) so this made a nice change. As soon as I saw it, it screamed at me to be layered over yellow, so I chose Cult Nails Feel Me Up.

The photos below show one coat over Feel Me Up, I really had to dab the glitter on though, it was a nightmare, but really pretty so who cares. Sorry my photos are a bit blurry, my camera couldn't handle so much glitter!

Natural light - no sunlight I'm afraid!
Shade
Macro from the bottle!

I wore this mani for one day (chipped it) to go shopping with a friend and I got complimented at least 5 times, by every single shop assistant. This really does have the wow factor!

Thing retails for $14.00 at Llarowe, and the good news is, it's in stock NOW, go and get it!

Cult Nails Feel Me Up retails here. It usually costs $10 but there is a sale on until Sunday so you can get it for $7! Might have to check out that sale as a present to myself!

Have a great weekend! I'm sure I'll have a lovely one, it's my birthday on Sunday so I'm going out for lunch with my family, and my brother has some kind of surprise activity planned for Monday so I'll tell you all what I got up to in a couple of days!

How To: Save Money Online This Summer!

Hi Everybody!

We've finally reached the end of the week and I couldn't be happier! I caught my son's cold, so I've just been achy and gross all day. The good news is that from Sunday I'll have it a bit easier, my boyfriend will be back (he's been working away for eight weeks) and I won't have to look after Caleb on my own  at last!

Today I have another "How To" post for you. As a mother of a young child (milk and nappies cost WAY more than they should) I'm always looking to save money when it comes to myself. I'm a typical girly girl, I love clothes, makeup and everything that comes with it, so I don't want to cut back on shopping but I do want to buy everything in sight cut back on the cost! Online shopping is a great way to do this, and seeing as I don't drive, it's a great way for me to get everything I want without moving a muscle!

So here are my top 5 websites to help you save money on fashion this summer!

1. eBay

I LOVE eBay, it's come a long way from people getting rid of their junk and it's no secret that I check there first for whatever I need before I check specific shops. What's really interesting is that big brands and stores are realising the potential of the site and are setting up shops on there, you can find Karen Millen, House of Fraser, Levi and Superdry with up to 70% discount. It's well worth having a look.

Fun Fact: I'm going to be maid of honour at my friends wedding next week and my dress is from eBay. It was brand new, in the bag, with tags on from a big store and it was reduced from well over £100 to under £40! It's a beautiful dress, you might even get to see it in a future post!

2. Voucher Code Sites:

The recession has hit the country hard, and this means that voucher code sites have become increasingly popular. FashionVouchers.com is one of the ones I use a lot, and it has a great layout where you can search for the brand you want codes for. VoucherCodes.co.uk is another one of my favourites (not least because ASOS codes are really easy to find on there!)

Fun Fact: My Mum signed me up for the emails from Martin Lewis at moneysavingexpert.com and they come in really handy. They send voucher codes and offers to my email inbox, and they also tell you if there are good magazine freebies to look out for!

3. ASOS:

ASOS is 100% my favourite online store of all time. If I had to choose one store to get all my clothes on for the rest of my life, it would be ASOS. My favourite thing about this site is the sale/clearance section. It's amazing, items start from £1.50, shoes start at £4, tops from £4.50 and dresses from £6... And they also have a designer outlet! What's not to love! I've bought so much of my summer wardrobe from ASOS this year and I've saved so much money! What's more, they offer free international delivery! There's nothing I hate more than buying a lot of clothes and then getting slapped with a £5 delivery charge!

Fun Fact: ASOS offer a one off payment of £14.95/year for unlimited next day delivery. So if you're impatient (like me) you can save money rather than paying £5.95 every time you want your order the next day!

4. Boohoo:

I love Boohoo, it's a store I've been shopping in for a few years now and it never disappoints me. Their summer range this year has been amazing and the prices are too! They have a sale on right now and you can get pretty summer dresses for as low as £5 but even full price they don't break the bank. The average price for dresses on there ranges from around £18-25 which is a total bargain!

Fun Fact: I have never paid full price/delivery costs at Boohoo. Look out for discount codes and you're bound to save a couple of pounds!

This is definitely aimed at the more high-end consumer, you won't find dresses for £10 on here! I am in love with the Outnet and spend many an afternoon browsing on there, imagining myself in Marchesa and Herve Leger dresses! They sell designer clothes with HUGE reductions. You can save a lot of money on here, they have items with up to 80% off. Some of it isn't cheap, but you can find some things for as low as £25, so don't be put off, there are some designer bargains to be had!

Fun Fact: I'm not even engaged, but there's a certain Marchesa dress that I can definitely see myself walking down the aisle in!

Don't think I've forgotten that this is blog that revolves around the nail world! Just before I go, here are my favourite sites to save money on beauty products!

Cosmetics Fairy: This site has nail polish from 35p a bottle, you can find old, discontinued polishes, Bourjois polish from 99p, it's amazing. I've bought from here a lot before, if you want to get a variety of nail polishes and you don't want to spend a lot, then this is a great site to try.

Cheapsmells: My Auntie got me into this site in 2009 and I've made quite a few orders. They sell discounted cosmetics and perfumes and skincare products. This site is really good when it comes to makeup, I've ordered a lot of Stila bits and pieces, they also do Benefit, Urban Decay, OPI, Essie, MAC (at times), Chanel, Dior, the list goes on. You will always make a saving against the RRP so it's well worth having a look, you might find something you never even knew you wanted!!!

I hope this little post helps you save a little bit of money this summer! Let me know if you get anything nice from any of the sites I mentioned...

Most of all, have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday!

*Disclosure. I was invited to write this post by FashionVouchers.com. My decision to include them in this post was down to the fact I love their site, and it will not affect my chance of winning. All opinions stated are 100% my own as always!

Candeo Colors Zef Production Seconds

Hi guys!

Just a quick post from me tonight. I've been doing my guest post for Island Girl Insights and I'm really tired now! That and my son has been really ill for the last two days, I'm beat... And I have a playgroup to go to tomorrow, I need some real downtime! I was so relaxed last weekend and now I'm super stressed out again!

Anyway, I have a really pretty polish to show you tonight. I mentioned in my Five Favourites post that I had indie polish fever, and this is just one of the polishes I picked up recently. I got this in the last Candeo Colors opening, I couldn't believe I managed to snag three polishes... It was my third time trying to get some Candeos, sitting there until the shop opened refreshing and refreshing! I wanted the real Zef, which has an extra type of blue matte glitter in, but it had sold out, this one was on the third page tucked away on its own so I think a lot of people missed it. I've noticed some people online saying that they got the real Zef just without a label on, so I don't know what happened with it all.

My Zef has large pink squares, medium and small blue hexes, and small pink and black hex matte glitter. If anything, I prefer it without the extra blue in because in my opinion there isn't enough pink!

Here's a macro from the bottle:

Application on this was good, no issues with glitter coverage. I managed to get loads of pink on my left hand but I was really fishing for it for my right hand! The photos below show one coat over China Glaze Electric Beat.

Natural light
Sunlight

I love this. I'm really happy with the layering combo and I have plenty more in mind. This is a really original glitter and I'm so happy I managed to get it. I am in LOVE with matte glitter!

The original Zef costs $9 on the Candeo Colors site but you can also get this brand at Llarowe. This version, the production seconds costed $5 in the last opening, I'm not sure if it will be available again.
